Yesterday we had practice for the younger kids. We started out with about 8 kids but by the end of practice we had a nice group of around 15. We practiced ball control and ended with a small game. The practices are going a lot smoother now that we have them divided into age groups! We are missing some soccer balls as there are more kids arriving now that it has been divided.
We have been super busy lately so haven’t had much time to post any new things but we are still here and practicing. We’ve gotten some more shoes donated thanks to an organization called Cabarete Cares. Also, we are getting more players everyday and they are improving so fast. Many thanks to everyone who is currently helping and to those who have helped in the past! Practice is today at 5pm and we will be having a fun pick me up game! Come and join!
Today we took four of our players to Encuentro beach to have some fun in the sand. We where allowed to play during a surf competition so there where plenty of other kids around who joined in on the fun. Playing in the sand is a big difference from playing on our usual field. At the end of the day we all had a good time and we came back to practice at 2pm. Pictures of our practice and the beach game will be up soon!
Here we present you with the first goal ever scored by Cabarete Futbol. Last weekend we got the chance to play our very first game against another team and here is one of the four goals that we scored! Enjoy.
While we wait check out a quick video shot with the GoPro. For the players that show up early to practice we tend to play some mini games while we wait for the practice to start. This time around we had 3 teams of 2 and a goalie playing on half of the field.
On Sunday we took 30 of our players to El Choco to play against a local team. This was our first game against another team and our players loved it. We did lose 4-7 but all of our players spirits stayed strong and their love for the sport and team grew. We will be posting pictures and videos of that soon. Stay tuned!
Last weekend we got a nice visit from the Sosua soccer team. They came around half way through our practice to give our kids a little idea of what potential they can reach through hard work and dedication. They played a short game and then shot some balls at the goalie together. It was a great experience for them and they got a little extra motivation! Would like to extend a special thanks to Henry (Sosua coach) as well as Jeff for putting it all together and Jade for taking the pictures!
Cabarete Futbol just recently received over 20 pairs of cleats as well as shin guards and balls thanks to Patricia and the Mariposa Foundation. They really helped motivate the kids to play harder and better so many thanks!! If you would like to know more about the Mariposa Foundation and some of the amazing work they are doing in the Dominican Republic you can check them out here: http://www.mariposadrfoundation.org
